Sol de Jayuya - Copper Taino Sun Pendant

This is a representation of the sun according to the Taino natives who inhabited the island of Puerto Rico and is a petroglyph or a stone carving.  The Sol  de Jayuya is called so because it was first discovered in the municipality of Jayuya on the Mural Indigena de Zamas located in the area of Zamas in Jayuya.

My version of the Sol de Jayuya is handstamped onto copper and then sawed off and shaped utilizing various tools to ensure that the edges of the metal are softly shaped around the sun.  This tiny sun hangs from a sterling silver chain.
